Churches, library shift to fall
WELCOME – Welcome Legion, Sons of the Legion, and Auxiliary will have a special membership feed beginning 5 p.m. tonight at Legion. Paid-up members will have free chicken and sweet corn. Memberships can be paid that night.
Guests and the public are welcome to join them for a small charge of $5.
A reminder that there will be no museum open hours Saturday at Welcome Museum. The Historical Society will put in a new heating and cooling system and there will not be access to the items and bathroom.
The next opening will be on the first Saturday in April. Appointments to see the museum can be made by calling Welcome City Hall at (507) 728-8740.
Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome, will revert back to its fall/winter schedule when services begin 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Welcome Legion will hold its monthly meeting 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Legion. All members are encouraged to attend.
Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome will begin a Worship on Wednesdays (WOW) program for children, age 3 to sixth grade, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
They will begin with child-centered worship, then move to various activities that relate to the evening’s bible story.
Children can register by calling the parish office at (507) 728-8259 or online at www.circleoffaithparish.org/wow, so they will be prepared with enough supplies.
Welcome Library will begin a new program in September called “1000 Books before Kindergarten.” Sign up at the library for a tote bag and tracking sheets. The child receives a prize for every 100 books that are read to them. If a family has more than one preschool child, they can count the books read for all of their children.
Welcome Library will begin its Adult Book Club with a meeting of coffee and goodies and where they will receive their first book 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the library. Sounds like the library is a place for all ages. Come check out all the items at the library. Their hours are 2-5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
