Indians outlast Knights

SLEEPY EYE – The Sleepy Eye Public Indians fended off the hard-charging Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain Knights in a three-game nonconference volleyball match on Thursday night in Sleepy Eye.

Sleepy Eye Public captured the hard-hitting clash by respective game scores of 25-17, 25-18, 25-15.

Setter Shelby Quinn distributed 10 assists in putting the Knights’ offensive attack in motion.

Marissa Steinhaus paced Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain’s defensive performance by recording 13 digs during the three-game span, while teammate Rachel Shumski contributed 10 digs to the cause.

Hitter Kenlie Pytleski literally lended a helping hand to the Knights’ defensive effort by chalking up six ace blocks on the match.

Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain (0-3) travels to Madelia on Thursday, Sept. 4, for a Valley Conference match against the Blackhawks.

Sleepy Eye Public (2-0) plays host to Mankato Loyola on Tuesday night.
