Lynette Rene (Jones) Chipman was born Jan. 24, 1954, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Harlan and Pat (Krause) Jones. She attended school in Truman and graduated from Truman High School with the class of 1972. Lyn graduated from Faribault Rice County School of Nursing and worked as an LPN at the Fairmont Community Hospital until her children Beth and Ann were born in 1980. She later attended Jackson Vo-Tech School, earning her mechanical drafting degree resulting in employment at Teledyne Aerospace Systems and Weigh-Tronix. Lyn worked for several years for Greater Minnesota Family Services as a family practitioner in Jackson County and at COR, where she found great joy in helping the disabled lead a productive life in their community. On May 17, 1985, Lyn was united in marriage to James Chipman in Yankton, S.D. Together, the couple made their home in Fairmont, Minn. Lyn cherished the relationships she made with others. She was a caring, compassionate and loving person, known for giving of herself until there wasn’t anything left. She was “Teapot” to some, “Lynnie” to others, but she (secretly, of course) liked “Gramma” best. In her spare time, Lyn enjoyed camping, stamping, scrapbooking and making cards. She treasured spending time with family and friends and looked forward to attending area auctions searching for the next antique treasure. Lyn cherished the many memories made throughout the years traveling to various places. She was very active in the Fairmont Opera House, where she volunteered and also was a board member. Lyn was also a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jim Chipman of Fairmont, Minn.; twin daughters, Beth Massey of Fairmont, Minn., and Ann Erdmann of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Dalton, Destiny, Kira and Koda Massey; siblings, Deb (George) Dubie of Spicer, Minn., Scott (Darcy) Jones of Fairmont, Minn., and Philip (Vikki) Jones of Peyton, Colo.; in-laws, Roger (Julie) Hendrickson of Fairmont, Minn., Rita (Gil) Wenzel of Woodbury, Minn., and Dean (Jessie) Hendrickson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, special friend, Jack Rooney, as well as many other friends.
Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Pat Jones; in-laws, Ray and Helen Erdmann, and Rich and Marty Chipman; and special friend, Deb Rooney.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Lyn’s memory to the Fairmont Opera House.
