Wacky camps winding down

TRUMAN – Marie Mausling is being honored on her 75th birthday with an open house at Truman Manor from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. All friends and relatives are invited to come wish Marie a happy 75th.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. All meetings are open to the public.

Truman Public School Board will meet 6 p.m. Monday in the high school library. The public is welcome to attend these meetings.

Recycling day is Wednesday. Place your container curbside by 7 a.m. with the wheels of the cart pointing toward your house.

For all income-eligible adults 60 years and older, Second Harvest Heartland will distribute food boxes from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 102 Seventh Ave. East, in Truman.

Calling all kids who have completed K-6 grade: The last Wacky Wednesday Summer Camp 2014 will be held with a luau (or Hawaiian party) from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 27.

Campers will be introduced to the Polynesian culture. You’ll enjoy tasting tropical snacks, listening to music, and learning about Polynesian dancing and the limbo.

No luau would be complete without handmade attire such as a lei and skirt.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman will sponsor a one-day Vacation Bible School event 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 24. Community children ages preschool through sixth grade are invited to attend for a day of fun, activities, food, singing, crafts and learning.

The theme for this year is “Tell the old, old story in a new, new way.”

A reminder for Truman Days garage sale participants to return their numbered sign to either Kathy or Barb. You will receive a questionnaire in the mail in the next few days. Please fill it out and return it in the self-addressed envelope. Your input will be greatly appreciated. The results will be tabulated and shared at a later date.
