Elmore Methodist plans Sunday meal

Elmore United Methodist Church will host a meal following the worship service 11:35 a.m. Sunday at the church. They will have sweet corn and brats, and Joe Sanders special potatoes. Cost is a donation. Everyone is welcome.

Red Rock to hold music event

There will be a hymn fest 7 p.m. Sunday at Red Rock Center for the Arts, Fairmont. Refreshments will be served. The public is welcome.

FAS to host teacher meeting

Fairmont Area Schools will host a substitute teacher meeting 9 a.m. Thursday in the William Budd room at Fairmont Elementary School. Veteran and new substitute teachers are encouraged to attend. Benefit dinner slated next Saturday

A benefit dinner and silent auction for Blaine Sweet will be held 5-7 p.m. Aug. 16 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fairmont. Blaine has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. A free-will donation meal will be served that includes: lasagna, lettuce salad, garlic bread, bars and beverage. Businesses or individuals that wish to donate to the silent auction may drop off donations at the church office, weekdays (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Cash or check donations may also be sent to: Bank Midwest, c/o Blaine Sweet Benefit, 301 S. State St., Fairmont, MN 56031. Supplemental Funds by Fairmont Chapter of Thrivent Financial. All proceeds will go toward ongoing medical expenses.
