‘AgriLympics’ set for Sunday
FAIRMONT – The games are set, the awards are ready, all that’s missing are the kids. Fairmont Market Square announces the inaugural AgriLympics.
Agrilympic games will take place all day Sunday at Fairmont Market Square, beginning on the quarter hours. Games include nail-driving, milk-chugging, wheelbarrow-racing and more. Kids should gather under the big tent prior to the games to sign up.

Candidates file for local offices
FAIRMONT?- Bruce Peters has filed his candidacy for the Ward 1 City Council seat in Fairmont, challenging incumbent Darin Rahm.
In Ward 3, Michael Schutz and Timothy McConnell have filed to fill the seat currently held by Joe Kallemeyn, who chose not to seek re-election.
As of press time Thursday, no one had filed for the mayor’s seat, currently held by Randy Quiring.
Blue Earth Area School Board has four seats up for election, but only Sheila Ripley, an incumbent, has filed.
The top three vote-getters will fill the three open seats on the Blue Earth City Council. So far, Marty Cassem and incumbents Russ Erichsrud and John Gartzke have filed.
Filings close at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Filing for school board seats can be completed at school district offices, while filing for council seats can be done at city halls.
‘Free 4 All’ to be held in Fairmont
FAIRMONT – Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church will host its third annual Free 4 All as a community outreach from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The event is open to everyone. Everything is free. A large selection of clothing and small household items will be available. All items have been previously purchased and are being given away without any income restrictions.
Evangelical Covenant Church is located at 901 Woodland Ave., Fairmont.
