BRANDON – Marlin Manzke, age 64, passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at his home in Brandon, Minn. Per Marlin’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Kortes Bar and Grill in Welcome, Minn.
Marlin was born Dec. 11, 1949, at Fairmont Community Hospital, son of Harold and Fern (Plath) Manzke. Marlin attended school in Armstrong, Iowa, until third grade, when the family moved to a farm near Welcome, Minn. He graduated from Welcome High School in 1968 and attend Jackson Vo-Tech, where he studied to become an electrician. Marlin was married to Kathleen Voigt on Dec. 29, 1972. They were blessed with two children, Travis and ShanaLynn. Marlin worked as an electrician at Armor Foods, K&W Electric, and Harsco Track Technologies, before retiring in 2008. After retirement, Marlin and Kathy moved to their lake home near Brandon, Minn., where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. They spent the winters at their home in Queen Creek, Ariz., where they enjoyed spending time in the pool and having pool parties.
Marlin is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Voigt) Manzke; son, Travis and wife, Mistie, Manzke and granddaughter, Claire of Thompson N.D.; daughter, Shannalynn Manzke and fianc, David Scalise, of Gilbert, Ariz.; brother, Arlo and wife, Rosanne, Manzke; sisters, Ardis and husband, Leon Schleininger, Lois Martinez, Jane and husband, Ralph Thorne; mother-in-law, Eunice Voigt; brothers-in-law, Larry and wife, Judy Voigt, Allan and wife, Patricia Voigt; sister-in-law, Jollene and husband, Keith Larson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Fern Manzke; brother, James Manzke; and father-in-law, Kenneth Voigt.
