Open house set for Thursday at Red Rock

A meet-and-greet open house for featured artist of the month Avis Davis will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Red Rock Center for the Arts, Fairmont. Her show, “The Enchanted Forest,” represents a colorful display of watercolor paintings. Refreshments will be served. There is no charge and the public is invited.

St. John’s to host Friday bazaar

St. John’s United Church of Christ Church will host its 31st annual bazaar and bake sale from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, 301 N. Main St., in Fairmont. They are serving egg bake, muffins, fruit cup and coffee. There also will be baked goods, garden produce, cookbooks and handmade craft items for sale. Everyone is invited.

Covenant to hold community outreach

Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church will hold its third annual Free-For-All community outreach from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church, 901 Woodland Ave., Fairmont. Clothing and small household items will be available for free giveaway. Everyone is welcome.

East Chain church plans coffee party

East Chain United Methodist Church will host a community coffee party 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church in East Chain. Rolls, donuts, coffee, tea and juice will be served. Free will offering. Everyone is welcome.

St. Katherine’s schedules annual event

St. Katherine’s Catholic Church of Truman will hold its annual garden walk and salad luncheon Saturday in Truman. Tickets are $10, while lunch only tickets will cost $7. There will be several garden tours from 9 a.m. to noon and a luncheon will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the church dining hall. They will have a quilt raffle with tickets for $1 each or six for $5. Also, sun catchers for the garden will be on sale. Everyone is invited to attend.

Korean vets to meet Saturday

Korean Veterans Chapter 254 will meet 9 a.m. Saturday at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. The bylaws concerning Chapter 254 will be reviewed and changed if need be. All Korean veterans are invited.

Dog Park part of Heritage Acres activities

Fairmont Area Dog Park committee members and supporters will be under the canopy at Fairmont Market Square from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Acres in Fairmont. Donations will be accepted for a bag of Puppy Chow. Visitors also can win a free FADP T-shirt by guessing the number of dog treats in a jar. Children’s Theatre slated for Sunday

The Fairmont Opera House Children’s Theatre is getting ready for its upcoming performance. Practices for the play “A Walk In The Woods,” a wild version of several classic children’s tales, began this week. Performances will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Fairmont Opera House. Tickets cost $7 and are available at Hy-Vee in Fairmont. This activity is sponsored in part by a grant from 3M in Fairmont. Everyone is invited.
