Wanda McGranahan

FAIRMONT – A memorial service for Wanda L. McGranahan, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial of ashes will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont.

Wanda passed away Monday morning, Aug. 4, 2014, at Parker Oaks Care Center in Winnebago, Minn. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Wanda Lorraine (Willard) McGranahan was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of George and Lila (Wagner) Willard. She grew up in Granada and graduated from Granada High School in 1942. After high school, she moved to Sioux Falls and worked at the Sparks Hatchery. She eventually moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where she worked as a disc jockey at a radio station and cared for horses at a horse track. In Waterloo, she met Arlen Joseph McGranahan and they were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They moved to Minnesota and operated the Rainbow Corner night club near Madelia and also lived in Granada. Wanda enjoyed raising horses, dogs and exotic poultry.

Wanda is survived by three children, Milo McGranahan and special friend, Liz Pribyl of Blue Earth, Minn., Deb Mason and her husband, Curley of Fairmont, and David McGranahan and his wife, Ann of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Paula McGranahan of Prior Lake, Minn.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert McGranahan; granddaughter, Markita Mason; longtime companion, Roger Soper; and husband, Arlen Joseph McGranahan.
