Joan F. Christopherson
Services for Joan F. Christopherson, 78, of Blue Earth, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Burial will be following the service in the Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Joan passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joan Frances (Newburgh) Christopherson was born on October 18, 1935, in St. Paul, the daughter of Floyd and Ruth (Vigen) Newburgh. Joan attended school in Ada, Minn., and graduated from Ada High School with the class of 1953.
Following her graduation, Joan moved to St. Paul, where she worked in insurance at St. Paul Companies.
On June 14, 1965, Joan was united in marriage to G. Neil Christopherson at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Together the couple celebrated 49 years of marriage together. Joan and Neil made their home in St. Charles, Minn., Salt Lake City, Utah, Borup, Minn., and Underwood, Minn., before moving to Blue Earth over 30 years ago.
Joan worked at Wal-Mart in Blue Earth for a number of years as a Customer Service Manager.
Family was extremely important to Joan and she cherished the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed reading and taking walks. She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for dogs. When her family was younger, Joan treasured the many camping trips they went on. She will be greatly missed by those that loved her and called her friend.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Pastor G. Neil Christopherson; children, Jonathan Lewis Christopherson and his wife, Andrea; Isabella Marla Sue Larson; and Karen Markeson and her husband, Kris; grandchildren, Alyson Diaz, Alyssa (Jeremy Mack Sr.) Mack, Dillon (Cory White) Haglund, Mikah Larson, Braydon Larson, Nathan Markeson, and Taylor Markeson; great-grandson, Jeremy Mack; as well as many other extended family and friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruth Newburgh.
