Garden walk, salad lunch planned

TRUMAN – Anyone interested in filing for the position of Truman City Council member or mayor has until Aug. 12 to do so.

Anyone interested in filing should go to City Hall between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

There is a $2 filing fee.

Truman Fire Department is accepting applications for firefighters.

Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma, and that you live within a 10-minute response time from the fire hall.

Applications are available at City Hall and are due by 4 p.m. Friday.

Lewisville Fun Daze build your own burger night will be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Lewisville Legion.

Tammy and Friends will provide karaoke from 8:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

There will be a sign-up and equipment hand-out night for students interested in participating in Truman area youth football from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday in the Truman High School gym.

This is a full-contact football league with pads. Equipment will be provided.

Area teams in the league include JWP, St. Clair, Madelia, LCWM, USC, Maple River, Alden Conger and Truman.

Most games will be played from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays in September and October. The season ends on Oct. 11 with playoffs in Alden Conger.

On Aug. 13, Wacky Wednesday Summer Camp 2014 is planning a magical time in the world of Harry Potter. After being sorted into houses, children will create their own wand, learn spells and make potions.

St. Katherine’s Catholic Church will hold its annual garden walk and salad luncheon Aug. 9.

There will be several gardens to tour from 9 a.m. to noon. The salad luncheon will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church dining hall.

A quilt raffle will be held and sun catchers for your garden will be for sale.

Come for a day of fun and good salads. Tickets are $10 or $7 for the lunch only.
