Frances L. Helland
BLUE EARTH – Frances L. Helland, age 88, of Blue Earth, formerly of Bricelyn, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Blue Earth, with Rev. Arne Halbakken, officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Thursday at the funeral home.

Frances was born April 18, 1926, in Bricelyn, Minn., the daughter of Bernard and S. Pearl (Armstrong) Dahl. She attended Bricelyn Public School and graduated in 1944.On Feb. 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to Erling O. Helland at her parents home. The couple farmed in the Bricelyn and Frost area for many years until they retired to Frost in 1982. They attended Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Frost. Her husband passed away in 1990 and Frances later moved to Blue Earth in 1998. Her favorite time was when she could have her children and their families around her. Frances also loved her knitting and counted cross stitch.
She is survived by her children, Lyndon (Linda) Helland of Plymouth, Lois (Ron) Mellum of Rogers, Larry (Vickie) Helland of Bricelyn; five grandchildren, Laura (Cary) Helland Isbel, Alyssa Helland, Kelsey Helland, Jonathan Mellum and Krista Mellum; four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob, Aiden, and Piper Isbel; sister, Mavis (Lester) Egeness of Frost; sister-in-law, Leota Dahl of Bricelyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erling; brother, Gerald Dahl; sister, Joyce Pendergast; and sister-in-law, Ardis Knutson.
