BRICELYN – A funeral service for Diane K. Gonzalez, 60, of Bricelyn, Minn., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont, Minn. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Diane passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, at her home in Bricelyn. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today, July 29, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is in charge of arrangements.
Diane Kay (Goerndt) Gonzalez was born Aug. 26, 1953, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Vernon “Bud” and Juanita (Thoms) Goerndt. She attended school in Granada-Huntley public school and graduated in 1971. Diane furthered her education at Mankato Vocational Technical School. Diane was united in marriage to Mike Gonzalez. They later divorced. Diane was a lifelong resident of the Bricelyn area. She was employed at Telex in Blue Earth for 23 years, as well as cooking for various businesses in the area. When Diane was younger, she was very active in 4-H. She and the rest of her family spent a lot of time together showing livestock for 4-H as well as playing 4-H softball and many other activities. Diane loved listening to music and attending concerts with her best friend, Mike. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, motorcycles, camping and bird watching. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her and called her “friend.”
Left to cherish her memory include: her sons, Dustin Goerndt and his fianc, Morgan Hanson of Lakota, Iowa, and his daughter, Dayle Goerndt, and Robby Gonzalez of Milwaukee, Wis.; sister, Delores Pavik and her husband, Robert of Pine River, Minn.; brother, Ron Goerndt and his wife, Cindy of Fairmont, Minn.; best friend, Michael Babcock of Kiester, Minn.; aunts, Bonnie Perry and her husband, Stan of Mountain View, Calif., Mava Hansen and her husband, Curly of Edina, Minn., and Nellie Goerndt of Fairmont, Minn.; uncle, Al Thoms of Fairmont, Minn.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Juanita Goerndt.
