Candidates can file soon

CEYLON – Ceylon Legion will host a fish fry from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the post home.

The menu will include fish, potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans, bars and a beverage.

There is a charge, with a reduced price for children age 12 and under.


St. Peter Lutheran Church continues its coffee hours every Tuesday in July. This Tuesday will be the last coffee hour. Coffee and treats are served from 8:30-10 a.m. in the church basement. Join them for good brew and good fellowship.


Candidates for Ceylon mayor and two council seats may file affidavits of candidacy beginning next Tuesday at the City Clerk’s office.

The last day to file is Aug. 12 by 5 p.m.

The election will be held Nov. 4.

The mayoral position is for a two-year term and the council members are elected to four-year terms each.


Next weekend will be Aug. 2. Ceylon Area Historical Society Museum will be open 1-3 p.m. that day.

This is the last of the summer hours but the museum can be visited by calling any of the directors and making an appointment.

The directors are: Ronnie Leiding, Ann Yackle, Marilyn Stelter, Greg Bents, Tom Bents and Bob Nelson.
