FAIRMONT – Anna Helton, born Lois Ann Euler, 74 of Fairmont, died on Thursday evening at 8:55 p.m. at the Mayo Health System in Fairmont. A double memorial service for the ashes of Anna and her little brother Bill Euler 61 who passed away on January 5, 2014, will be held at the family beach home in Ocean City, N.J., on Saturday, July 26, 2014.
Anna was born July 30, 1939, in Prospect Park, Penn., to Joseph F. Euler and Grace Harriet Lodge. Anna graduated from Walter Johnson high school in 1957 and then attended Mount Vernon Prep School for girls and one year at Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. She then married Nicholas Chantiles in 1960 in Washington, D.C. That marriage produced 3 sons: Phillip, Joseph, and John. Nick and Anna divorced and she later married Gorden Hess who had 3 daughters, Karen, Judy, and Kelly. That marriage produced a son, Kurt. After Gordon died, Anna married Virgil Helton. Together they left the state of Virginia and moved to Fairmont, where they have made their home for 22 years. Anna was very fond of theater and was active on stage in high school and college. She participated in “Brigadoon” and “Fiddler On the Roof” here with the Fairmont Civic Summer Theater. She was a member of the History club and Toastmasters.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Virgil Helton; Sons Joseph N. Chantiles (Poolsville, Md.), John N. Chantiles (Mt Airey, Md.), and Kurt Hess (Virginia Beach); Daughters, Karen Hess (Sydney, Australia), Judy Binstead (Silversprings, Md.), Kelly Hess (Virginia Beach, Va.); Grandchildren: Carrissa and Nick Chantiles and PJ Chantiles; Brother, Col John Lodge Euler (Marti) (Bethesda, Md.) and Dianne Euler Pearson (Charles) (Fairmont, Minn.); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved son Philip in 1973.
