Forest City deals loss to Warriors
FOREST CITY, Iowa – Jeff Anderson tossed a four-hit complete game to guide the Forest City Indians to a 5-1 victory over the North Union Warriors during Iowa prep baseball action Wednesday night in Forest City, Iowa.
Anderson allowed one earned run, recorded three strikeouts and issued only one walk in seven innings of work to earn the victory.
Anderson also assisted his own cause from the batter’s box, going 2-for-3 with an RBI triple, in addition to scoring a run.
Tyler Prescott went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and one run scored to pace the Indians, while teammate Ben Midtgaard went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored.
Corey Vaske went 2-for-2 and delivered the Warriors’ only run on the game. Colin Runksmeier doubled and scored North Union’s solo run in the sixth inning.
Cody Runksmeier added a double for the Warriors.
Vaske allowed five runs – four earned – on nine hits, struck out eight and walked one in six innings of work to absorb the loss.
North Union (11-15) plays St. Mary’s of Storm Lake at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the Iowa Class 1A, District 3 playoffs in Alta, Iowa.
