‘Spoon Man’ performance canceled

The performance by Jim Cruise, “The Spoon Man” scheduled for Thursday at the Fairmont Library and the Sherburn Theatre, has been canceled due to a personal emergency. This performance will not be rescheduled.

Legion Auxiliary to sponsor dinner

Fairmont American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a chicken fried steak dinner 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Legion, 106 E. First St., Fairmont. The meal will include: chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, homemade bread, green beans and applesauce. The cost is $8 per person. Take-outs are available. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Bridge play to resume this fall

Hospital Marathon Bridge will resume in September 2014. They will play seven to eight times from September to the end of April 2015. New members are welcome. Meals on Wheels sets Friday meeting

Martin County Hot Meals on Wheels will hold a board meeting noon Friday in the northeast dining room at Lakeview Health Care Center in Fairmont.

Schultz reunion slated for Sunday

Schultz reunion will be held noon Sunday at Gomsrud Park in Fairmont. Please bring a dish to pass. All family members are encouraged to attend.

College News

Casey Paris of Fairmont recently graduated and received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business from the University of Minnesota Crookston.

Tia Dupont of Swea City was named to the dean’s list for the 2014 spring semester at Central College in Pella, Iowa.

The following area students recently graduated and were awarded degrees during spring commencement at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse: Easton – Jordan Becker, master’s degree in physician assistant studies; St. James – Brett Mueller, doctor of physical therapy; Scott Mueller, bachelor’s degree in physics (highest honors).
