Lois I. Hoppe

TRUMAN – Memorial services for Lois I. Hoppe, 89, of Truman, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Truman, with Rev. Nathan Rusert, officiating. Inurnment will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, rural Truman, Minn.

Lois died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Truman Senior Living. Visitation with the family will be held 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman assisted the family with arrangements.

Lois Grunig was born June 13, 1924, in Darfur, Minn., to Jacob and Esther (Geuther) Grunig. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Darfur and graduated from Butterfield High School in 1942. On Feb. 14, 1943, Lois married Lorvin Sharp of St. James. They divorced in 1949. On March 19, 1950, Lois married Milford Hoppe of Truman. They farmed for years in southern Minnesota They lived in Madelia until moving to New Jersey in 1968, and lived there until 1977, when they moved to Truman. Lois worked at Data Ram, Weigh-Tronix and Optel during these years until retirement. During retirement, she enjoyed mowing lawns and wintering in New Jersey.

Lois is survived by one daughter, Deb (Sam) Owl of Cherokee, N.C.; three sons, Bruce (Helen) Sharp of St. James, Minn., Steven (Terri) Hoppe of Pennington, N.J., Bradly (Jeanne) Hoppe of Trenton, N.J.; one daughter-in-law, Linda Hoppe of N.J.; two brothers, Garland Grunig of Madelia, Minn., Willis (Eulalie Ann) Grunig of Truman, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many special nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milford; son, Timothy; daughter, Suzanne; grandson, Joel; sister, Ladonna Jenkins; brother-in-law, Ronald Jenkins; sister-in-law, Merlys Grunig; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sharp.
