Humboldt shut out Warriors
Humboldt, Iowa – The Humboldt Wildcats baseball team scored 10 runs in four innings and shut out the North Union Warriors 10-0 in a five-inning victory on Tuesday in Humboldt, Iowa.
Tyler Mckibban and Connor Vitzthum went 2-for-2 and 3-for-3, each with a double to pace the Wildcats offensive efforts on Tuesday.
Chris Witzke added a pair of hits in going 2-for-3, while Brady Shelgren, who went 1-for-3 smacked a double.
Austin Zylstra, Brenden Schnell and Nick Laing each added hits for the Wildcats in the win.
Cody Runksmeier, Colin Runksmeier Parker Oleson and Logan Hellman each had hits for the Warriors in the game.
Zylstra pitched four innings allowing three hits, striking out three and walking two to earn the win for the Wildcats.
Schnell closed out the final inning, striking out one and allowing just one hit in relief.
Colin Runksmeier pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing eight runs – five earned – on nine hits and striking out four to absorb the loss.
Trent Pedersen pitched the final 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and walked one in relief.
North Union (10-14) travels to play West Fork at 5:30 p.m. on Monday in Sheffield, Iowa.
