Library announces closings
Martin County Library and branches will be closed Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
CER announces upcoming activities
Community Education and Recreation (CER) will hold three class activities next week. First, there will be a Microsoft Word Intermediate class from 6:15-9:15 p.m. Monday and Thursday at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St., Fairmont. Next, a Crazy Art class taught by a Prairie Ecology Bus Center naturalist for children entering grades 1-3 will be held 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday in room 160 at Fairmont Elementary School. (Wear clothes that can get dirty). The fee will be $12 with a CER pass, $14 without a pass. Lastly, a Blast Off to Fun class taught by a Prairie Ecology Bus Center naturalist for children entering grades 4-7 will be held 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday in room 160 at Fairmont Elementary School. The fee for the class will be $12 with a CER pass, $14 without a pass. Pre-registration with payment is requested at Fairmont Community Education and Recreation located at Fairmont Elementary School. Workshop series slated at Red Rock
Life-Work Planning Center will offer a six-week workshop series on personal growth to be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays beginning July 9 at the Red Rock Center for the Arts, 222 E. Blue Earth Ave., Fairmont. Life-Work Planning Center is a workforce development program for women going through life changes and offers support in exploring career options. Chad Kumm of Fairmont graduated with honors and was awarded a doctor of pharmacy from the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions during a commencement ceremony held May 17, 2014, at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
Taylor Baker of Lakefield recently graduated an was awarded a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bemidji State University in Bemidji.
Casey Rabbe of Fairmont recently graduated and was awarded a doctor of veterinary medicine degree during a ceremony held May 10, 2014, from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in St. Paul.
Andrea Betts of Fairmont was named to the dean’s list for the 2014 spring semester at the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn.
