‘Red, White, Brew’ draws near

SHERBURN – Sherburn’s area Task Force is going “Back to the Classics” with its annual “Red, White and Brew” fundraiser to be held 6-10 p.m. Aug. 1 at Sherburn Fire Hall.

This is the third year the Task Force has hosted the beer and wine tasting fundraiser. Profits will go toward the installation of a permanent addition to the Sherburn Theater stage, which is used for Martin County West High School plays, concerts and other events.

“The first year, we did a fundraiser for the Sherburn Theater, and that was a success,” said Charlotte Cordes, a Task Force member. “Last year, the funds went to purchase a 5-by-8 digital sign for the Martin County West High School, and we got that with help from several other organizations in town.”

Each year, the goal of the annual fundraiser is voted upon by the Task Force.

This year, the theme is “Back to the Classics,” with a classic car show, complete with awards.

“We will have live music entertainment, and a number of crafts, food, wine and beer vendors,” Cordes said. “We brought in the craft vendors last year, and we got a great response for them.”

The wine and beer tasting usually features some local and regional beers and wines, including some homemade. Others are regional favorites.

“Steve Frolik at the Sherburn Liquor Store has been good about supplying us with wine and beer products to taste, then also having them available to purchase locally,” Cordes said.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at Bank Midwest in Sherburn, Old Alley Quilt Shop, Sherburn Red Carpet Liquor Store, and Sherburn Nursery and Floral. More information regarding Red, White and Brew is available by calling (507) 764-2975
