‘Red, White, Brew’ slated
SHERBURN – Tonight is “Hamburger Night” at Sherburn American Legion. They will serve grilled burgers from 6-8 p.m. The public is invited.
There will be an open house for three graduates from 1-4 p.m. Friday at Sherburn City Park. Graduates are: Jonathan, son of Al and Theresa (Morris) Peterson, Tiffany, daughter of Duane and Lora (Morris) Gantz, and Jesse, son of Darren and Kelly (Morris) Schweiss.
All friends and relatives are invited to join them.
Gerald and Jo Tumbleson will celebrate 50 years of marriage and farming from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at their farm home, 1705 40th Ave., Sherburn.

Sherburn Area Task Force will host its third annual wine and beer tasting event. The “Red, White, and Brew Review” will be 6-10 p.m. Aug. 1 at Sherburn Fire Hall.
There are a limited number of tickets available for this event, so buy yours early. Tickets may be purchased from Sherburn Area Task Force members, Old Alley Quilt Shop, Sherburn Nursery and Floral, Bank Midwest of Sherburn, Sherburn Red Carpet Liquor Store, or by calling (507) 764-2975.
Along with an opportunity to taste a fine selection of wines and brews, they will have entertainment by local musicians and a classic car show.
Food, beverages, antiques, and unique gifts will be available for purchase that evening.
Trimont’s FunFest will be held July 11-13.
J and K Amusements, a family-owned carnival, will once again be part of the celebration. The carnival will run three days, so anyone wanting to buy a wristband for the entire three days is encouraged to do so soon. They only sell 250 three-day wristbands, and they are usually sold out before the carnival begins.
Wristbands are available at Farmers State Bank and Triumph State Bank in Trimont and at Welcome TV in Welcome.
One-day wristbands and individual tickets will still be available during the weekend of FunFest.
Also during Trimont’s FunFest celebration this year, there will be a CREST silent auction. If you have any items you would be willing to donate, call Tina at (507) 639-9861.
CREST is a program that provides non-professional assistance to individuals in need. Volunteers for this organization are always needed. If you’re interested or have questions, give Tina a call.
Registration for summer soccer is open through the last week of July. If you have a son or daughter, ages 4-10, who is interested in this program, please call Karin Carlson at (507) 639-5761.
Play/practices will begin the last week in July.
DuPont Pioneer recently announced a $2,500 award to the Sherburn Fire Department. The award will be used for a new powered “Stryker” cot for the ambulance.
An open house morning coffee to celebrate the 65th wedding anniversary of Lyle and Jane Jacobsen will be 10 a.m. to noon July 12 at the home of Anne and Pat Bedford, 821 100th St., Sherburn. All friends and relatives are invited.
The Kittleson Family will be the featured entertainment for “Sundaes in the Park” on Sunday evening at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont. The event with entertainment and ice cream will begin at 6 p.m.
There will be Outlaws baseball this Sunday in Welcome. The team will play Belle Plaine at 2 p.m. and St. Peter at 4 p.m. at the Fox Lake Baseball Complex.
