Post 1222 rallys by Arlington

GAYLORD – The Fairmont VFW Post 1222 baseball team edged Arlington 3-2 in nine innings on Wednesday in Gaylord.

Carter Lloyd led off the top of the ninth inning, reaching first base on an error.

Jack Waletich then was hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second.

Eli Green stepped up and laid down a bunt for a hit, loading the bases.

Tyler Tennyson was then able to deliver the game-winning hit.

Tennyson hit a grounder for a fielder’s choice, but his out allowed Lloyd to race home from third base to give Fairmont the 3-2 win.

In addition to his contributions at the plate, Green came in and pitched two innings of relief for Fairmont, allowing just one hit to earn the win.

Waletich, Green, Tennyson, Kale Fritz and Evan Closs each had one hit in the win.

Nathan Gillis started on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing two earned runs on two hits and walking four in a no decision.

Fairmont VFW Post 1222 (7-1) travels to play on Wednesday in Hutchinson.
