Dennis L. Kastning
FAIRMONT – Services for Dennis L. Kastning, 67, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in Lakeside Cemetery.
Dennis passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at his home in Fairmont, after a 10-year battle with cancer. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today, June 25, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dennis Lee Kastning was born Sept. 22, 1946, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Maynard and Ruth (Holden) Kastning. He received his education from the Fairmont Public Schools. On Jan. 20, 1968, Dennis was united in marriage to Claudia Luhmann at the East Chain Lutheran Church in East Chain, Minn. Together, the couple made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with three sons, Bryan, Kevin and Paul. Dennis worked for 48 years at Martin County National Bank/Profinium Financial working as a teller and for the last 10 years as a courier. He retired on Oct. 1, 2013. In his spare time, Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to coffee. He treasured time spent at the family cabin on Upper Hay near Pequot Lakes, Minn., and cherished the many memories made during family vacations there. Dennis was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and had celebrated 35 years of sobriety with AA. Dennis will be greatly missed by those that loved him and called him friend.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Claudia Kastning of Fairmont, Minn.; sons, Bryan Kastning and his wife, Lori, of Fairmont, Minn., Kevin Kastning of Pequot Lakes, Minn., and Paul Kastning of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; grandchildren, Alex and Jacob Kastning and Corey Linton; mother, Ruth Kastning of Fairmont, Minn.; sister, Diane Mattson and her husband, Doug, of Fairmont, Minn.; mother-in-law, Winnefred Luhmann of Fairmont, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Janice Stromberg and her husband, Norwood of Fairmont, Minn., and Diana Abelson and her husband, Victor of Welcome, Minn.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Kastning and father-in-law, Clarence Luhmann.
The family requests memorials be given in Dennis’ name to Fairmont Alano, Helping Hands Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
