Melvin Walter Range

BURNSVILLE – Melvin Walter Range, age 86, of Burnsville, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. A private family reviewal was held. Interment will be held at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Melvin was born March 10, 1928, in Thompson, Iowa, to Peter and Meta (Reiter) Range. He attended Fairmont schools. He was confirmed in 1942 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fairmont. He entered the U.S. Navy on May 14, 1945, serving his country in WWII. He married Rosemary Llamas on July 18, 1948, at the Methodist parsonage in Estherville, Iowa. Throughout his lifetime, Melvin had various occupations in Fairmont. He and Rosemary relocated to Burnsville, Minn., in retirement. Melvin was proud to be a Navy veteran and enjoyed going to the VA Hospital to visit other veterans.

Melvin is survived by wife, Rosemary; five sons, Richard (Genevieve), James (Rosie), David (Julie), Dale (Linda), and Daniel; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Harvey; sister, Katherine (Ronald) Roper.
