Offender allegedly violated registration

FAIRMONT – A 22-year-old Fairmont man is charged with violating his registration requirements as a predatory offender.

According to information from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office:

Jonathan Paul Grunewald is a registered predatory offender in Martin County. His last listed address with officials was at Elm Tree Trailer Court in Welcome. In March, Grunewald had a probation violation when he failed to make contact with his probation officer. Police learned that in April, Grunewald’s EBT card was used in Colorado.

Attempts to make contact with Grunewald at his registered address in Welcome were unsuccessful. A person at the residence said Grunewald no longer lived there and moved out in mid-April.

Grunewald was found by police and arrested Friday. He is being held in the Martin County Jail.

The maximum penalty for knowingly violating registration requirements is five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
