Man charged with drug crime
FAIRMONT – A 29-year-old Dunnell man, Alfred L. Klein III, faces a fifth-degree controlled substance charge after police allegedly found a pipe that had methamphetamine residue in his possession.
According to information from the Sherburn-Welcome Police Department:
On June 15, a Sherburn-Welcome police officer spotted Klein on North Main Street in Sherburn. The officer knew there was a warrant out for Klein’s arrest in Nicollet County.
The officer made contact with Klein and placed him under arrest. During the arrest, Klein kept reaching for his waistband and pocket, and a short time later a drug pipe fell out of Klein’s clothing and onto the sidewalk. The interior of the pipe had a white coating that Klein admitted was meth. Narcotics kit testing later confirmed the white coating was methamphetamine.
The fifth-degree controlled substance crime charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Klein is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
