Fairmont U17 soccer battles to close decisions
FAIRMONT – The Fairmont Police Association U17 girls soccer team posted a win and battled to three one-goal decisions during recent spring soccer action at Kot Soccer Complex in Fairmont.
Waseca edged Fairmont, 2-1, on June 12. Kayley Shoen produced the red-and-white’s only goal, while Carolin Hellrung handled the netkeeping duties.
Le Sueur squeezed by Fairmont, 3-2, on June 10. Lexi Johnson and Claire Gerhardt accounted for Fairmont’s goals, while Hellrung provided solid net play.
Four different players netted goals, while Hellrung posted a shutout to engineer Fairmont’s 4-0 victory over New Ulm on June 5.
Logyn Cone, Riann Dietz, Emily Kloeckner and Marisa Nelson delivered goals for Fairmont, while Shoen, Hayley Jones and Johnson distributed assists.
Winona slipped by Fairmont, 1-0, on June 3. Cone and Hellrung combined to handle the goalkeeping duties.
Austin 3, Fairmont Quist Moving and Storage 0 – Austin blanked Fairmont during U14 action on Wednesday.
Anna Nordquist tallied 16 saves for Fairmont.
Byron 3, Fairmont 1 – Byron posted a 3-1 triumph over Fairmont on June 13.
Brooke Hunwardsen scored Fairmont’s lone goal of the contest, while Taylor Eicholz supplied goalkeeping duties.
Bank Midwest Fairmont 1, Waseca 1 (tie) – Ella Nelson chalked up an unassisted goal to help Fairmont earn a 1-all tie with Waseca on Wednesday.
Kaylean Thingstad and Kaiden Boerner combined to handle Fairmont’s netminding duties.
