Warriors trip Gaels in 10th

BANCROFT, Iowa – Cody Runksmeier delivered the game-winning RBI single with two out in the bottom of the 10th inning to propel the North Union Warriors to a 10-9 victory over the St. Edmond Gaels during Iowa prep baseball action Tuesday night.

Pinch hitter Trent Pedersen drew a one-out walk, advanced to second base on Braden Ortman’s sacrifice bunt and crossed the plate with the decisive run on Cody Runksmeier’s hit.

Colin Runksmeier went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles to produce two RBIs to complement two runs scored for North Union, while Alex Krantz went 3-for-3 with a double and a game-leading three RBIs.

Cody Runksmeier finished the game 2-for-4 and added a run scored to complement his game-winning RBI.

Spencer Ricke and Corey Vaske each contributed one hit and one RBI to the Warriors’ winning cause.

Vaske allowed five runs – just three earned – on seven hits, struck out two and issued one walk in five innings of relief to earn the winning decision.

North Union (6-8) hosts Okoboji at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Bancroft, Iowa.
