Spencer eases by Warriors
SPENCER, Iowa – The Spencer Tigers baseball team cruised to a 14-4 five-inning over the North Union Warriors on Thursday in Spencer, Iowa.
Jake Kluender allowed four runs on four hits, struck out seven and walked two in five innings to help the Tigers earn the win.
Kluender also helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
The top of the Tiger lineup combined for 11 of the Tigers 15 hits.
Caleb Heisinger, Brady Illg and Chase Habben each went 2-for-4, while Brady Klooger finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double.
Blake Illg smacked a double and drove in a pair of RBIs during his 3-for-4 game at the dish.
Brady Illg drove in a team-leading four RBIs and had a double in his offensive effort.
Colin Runksmeier went 1-for-3 and drove in a pair of RBIs to top the Warrior offensive effort.
Corey Vaske and Spencer Ricke each went 1-for-3 with Vaske driving in two RBIs.
Parker Oleson also had one hit and scored a run for the Warriors.
Cody Runksmeier started on the mound for North Union, allowing 10 runs – five earned – on 10 hits, striking out two and walking one to absorb the loss.
Braden Ortman came in and allowed four runs on five hits, striking out one and walking one in his relief effort.
North Union (5-7) plays host to Remsen St. Mary’s at 3 p.m. today in Bancroft.
