Heritage Acres offers free ice cream cones

Heritage Acres will serve free ice cream cones from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in the cafe of the Prairieville building on Heritage Acres, Fairmont. A reminder that all buildings will be open and are handicap-accessible.

Sherburn Legion plans steak fry tonight

Sherburn American Legion Post 356 will hold a steak and shrimp fry from 5:30-8:30 p.m. tonight at the Legion Post in Sherburn. Everyone is welcome.

Fairmont Legion sets Monday meeting

Fairmont American Legion Post 36 will hold its monthly meeting 7 p.m. Monday at the Legion. All members are encouraged and welcome to attend.

City Band to perform Tuesday

Fairmont City Band will perform its second summer concert 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Sylvania Park Band Shell in Fairmont. The band will perform marches, show tunes and standard band literature. Rehearsals begin at 6:15 p.m. The band is always looking for new members. Intermission entertainment will be Richard Miller on the accordion. IHD committee will operate the concession stand, with proceeds going toward Interlaken Heritage Days activities. Women’s meeting slated in St. James

St. James Area Christian Women will hold their “Balm For The Soul” luncheon noon Thursday in the club room at the St. James American Legion. Special feature, music and speaker will be Marti Ford from Topeka, Kan. Reservations are essential by June 17 and can be made by calling Kathy at (507) 375-5046 or Joan at (507) 427-8943.

Kate Murphy of Fairmont was named to the dean’s list for the 2014 spring semester at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.

Alison Tate of Jackson was named to the dean’s list for the 2014 spring semester at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D.
