Holiday Festival approaches

SHERBURN – They will serve a ribeye steak and shrimp dinner from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sherburn American Legion. The public is invited.

Dunnell-Lake Fremont Fire Department will host its annual Hog Roast and Car Show from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The meal will be served at the Dunnell Community Hall.

Everyone is invited to come celebrate Father’s Day with classic cars, fire trucks and great food.

Glen Henriksen will be the featured entertainment at the “Sundaes in the Park” program 6 p.m. Sunday at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont.

“Junk Day” in Sherburn for Sherburn residents only will be held Saturday. Bring your junk from 8-11 a.m. to the lot behind City Hall for pickup.

A reminder that summer hours have begun for City Hall in Sherburn. The office will be open 7 a.m. to noon and 12:30-4 p.m. These hours will be in effect until Sept. 2, when regular hours will resume.

The indoor swimming pool in Sherburn began its summer hours June 1. The hours are 1-4 p.m. Sunday through Saturday, and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.

Park Play is currently going on in our Martin County West communities and will continue through the end of June. They will have games and creative art activities, as well as snack time.

Park play will be 9-11 a.m. Mondays in Dunnell; 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays in Trimont; 9-11 a.m. Wednesdays in Welcome; and 9-11 a.m. Thursdays in Sherburn.

Dunnell’s activities will be in the community center. In all other towns, it will be held at the park.

Children, age 4 through sixth grade are welcome to attend. There is a small fee for those attending.

Any report cards not picked up at Martin County West Junior/Senior High School in Sherburn are now at the Central Office in Sherburn.

Sherburn’s annual summer Holiday Festival will be June 20-22. Make sure to keep that week open for the many events going on in Sherburn.

Congratulations to Martin County West golfers Cordell Weber and Logan Weber, who qualified for the Minnesota state golf meet. They began competition Tuesday at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker. Competition will continue through today.

Also, congratulations to the boys and girls track teams from Martin County West on their accomplishments at the state track meet held last weekend at Hamline University.

The boys 4×800 relay team of Nick Holm, Jonah Mayo, Matthew Viesselman and Dylan Brockman finished in third place, while the girls 4×800 team of Taryn Tumbleson, Cora Olson, Hailey Leiding and Haley Jensen finished in second.
