You’ll be old one day too

To the Editor:

Do you think you will never get old? I’ll give you a hint, you will. The Senior Center in Blue Earth is a wonderful place. Yes, it needs a director. Who do you think makes up the schedules for many things, food, rent for parties, entertainment, speakers, etc.? Who keeps the place looking nice and decorated?

When I moved to Blue Earth in 1999, the Senior Center was here. At the time, I didn’t realize just how much I would get involved with it. I guess I was just like you, I thought I would never get old. Guess what? That time came sooner rather than later. It also comes whether you want it to or not.

The meals are great for all of us. It’s a time to get together with friends to laugh and talk about old times. There are many people who only get that one meal a day.

For director, you need to choose Linda Jahnke. She knows the ropes and was more than willing to jump in and help when Middy Thomas was taken ill. Because she isn’t liked by everyone is not a reason. I know not all of you are liked by everyone.

It’s about time to make a decision. The City Council is like the rest of the government. They can’t make a decision. We need meals at the Senior Center. Remember, you’ll be old one day. Treat us like you would like to be treated.
