TRIMONT – A Celebration of Life service for Ruth Schoewe, 91, of Trimont, Minn., will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township, rural Alpha, Jackson County, Minn., with Rev. Rick Bremseth, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, rural Alpha, Minn.
Ruth was called to her eternal rest on Thursday morning, June 5, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society-Pleasant View in St. James, Minn. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Ruth Fay Shewmaker was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Kimball Township, Minn., to Percy and Mary (Sabolik) Shewmaker. She was baptized on Feb. 2, 1923, and later confirmed on March 21, 1937, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township. Ruth attended county school in rural Minnesota and later graduated from Mountain Lake High School. She completed training as a teacher in Blue Earth, Minn. She taught in county school and had a remarkable memory for the bible, poems, catechism and peoples names. She married Rudy Schoewe on Sept. 12, 1943. They have been married for 70 years. Ruth and Rudy farmed in Kimball township on the Schoewe homestead until they moved to Trimont in 1980. Ruth enjoyed farming and took an active role in using tractors for planting and cultivating when needed helping with the livestock, also enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, recipe collecting, quilting and attending softball and baseball games. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, vice chairman of the LWML, taught Sunday School, member of the women’s project group and was a 4-H leader for many years. Ruth loved to spend time with her eight grandchildren (Todd, Ryan, Jennifer, Paula, Lora, Sara, Troy and Tara), and her nine great-grandchildren. Ruth and Rudy spent many summer hours at the lake by Nevis, Minn. They went fishing and spent time with friends and family. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease later in life.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Rudy Schoewe of Trimont; daughter, Mary (Neal) Taylor of Osage, Minn.; son, Loren (Sherry) Schoewe of rural Alpha, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Schoewe of Mankato, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Kreel, Paula (Brent) Bergeman, Lora (Mike) Bagur, Sara (Jeff) Norstad, Troy Schoewe, Tara (Tony) Klaers, Todd (Melissa) Taylor, Ryan (Jennifer) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Isabell Kreel, Emily and Katelynn Bergeman, Abigail and Nicholas Norstad, Brynn and Bailey Klaers, Cory and Jesse Taylor; sister, Arlene “Jackie” (Martin) Franz of Mountain Lake, Minn.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles “Butch” Schoewe; and other relatives.
