SHERBURN – A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Theobald, 85, of rural Sherburn, Minn., will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn, Minn., with Father Brian Sutton, celebrant and Father Charles Quinn, con-celebrant. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery, Sherburn, Minn.

Paul was called to his eternal rest on Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2014, at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation and a time of sharing memories with the Theobald family will be held 5-7 p.m. today, June 3, 2014, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn, and one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday in the Parish Center of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Paul John Theobald was born July 9, 1928, in Jay Township, Martin County, Minn., to Charles and Mathilda (Zellner) Theobald. He was a 1946 graduate of Sherburn-Dunnell High School and farmed with his father until his marriage to Marcella Milbrandt on July 6, 1957, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn, Minn. He took over the farming operation at that time, ultimately purchasing the family farm (now a Century Farm) in 1968. Along with growing corn and soybeans, he especially enjoyed all aspects of his large cattle feeding operation, and was at one time a member of the National Cattle Feeders Association. Paul retired from farming in 2004. Paul was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn, served as a Trustee on the Church Board, and was Chief Ranger of the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 1421 for many years. He enjoyed singing and was a long time member of the church choir.

Paul is survived by his wife, Marcella of Fairmont, Minn.; three daughters, Mona Theobald of Brookfield, Wis., Jean Fisher and husband, Mark of Naperville, Ill., Paula Ehlers and husband, Mark of Maple Grove, Minn.; two granddaughters, Adrian Fisher and Morgan Ehlers; one grandson, Brad Ehlers; one brother, Raymond Theobald and wife, Mickey of Sherburn; two sisters, Marianne Lutterman of Sherburn and Rita Erickson of Omaha, Neb., and sister-in-law, Sue Theobald of Sioux Falls, S.D. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; sisters, Rosella, Dorothy, and Catherine; and other relatives.
