Juanita E. Schmeeckle
FAIRMONT – Services for Juanita E. Schmeeckle, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont, with interment in Nashville Township Cemetery.
Juanita passed away Sunday morning, June 1, 2014, at Lakeview Methodist Healthcare Center in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at Lakeview Funeral Home. Memorials are preferred to United Hands Hospice.
Juanita Ellen (Teubner) Schmeeckle was born Dec. 25, 1922, at her parent’s home in Center Creek Township, Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Windom and Grace (Doolittle) Teubner. Juanita graduated from Huntley Consolidated School in 1941. She furthered her education at Mankato Commercial College. After school, Juanita moved to Texas where she married Alex Pope, who fought and died in World War II. She then moved to southern California where she met Roland Schmeeckle. The couple married in 1956, in Santa Clara, Calif. Juanita and Roland owned and operated an auto repair business while Juanita owned and operated a beauty salon. Years later, they started Roland’s Equipment Company, Inc. in Anaheim, Calif. The couple shared 36 years together before Roland passed away on May 3, 1992. After Roland passed away, Juanita continued to operate the business for several years. She eventually sold the company and returned to Minnesota. In her earlier years, Juanita was an avid ballroom dancer as well as an accomplished painter. She also enjoyed collecting, traveling around the world and especially loved the company of her many pets throughout the years.
Left to cherish her memory include: her sister Arlene Gronseth of Winnebago, Minn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Windom and Grace Teubner; husband, Alex Pope; husband, Roland Schmeeckle; and her brother, Marion Teubner.
