Garrigan slips by No. Union

ALGONA, Iowa – Ben Vaske went 3-for-3 and scored the decisive run in the bottom of the sixth inning to help the Bishop Garrigan Bears scratch the North Union Warriors, 4-3, during Iowa prep baseball action Thursday night in Algona, Iowa.

Ben Vaske also produced one RBI and scored a pair of runs, while teammate Zach Boelter went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Boelter allowed three runs on five hits, struck out six and issued one walk in six innings of work to earn the victory.

Reece Wadle notched two strikeouts and walked one in one scoreless and hitless inning of relief to earn the save for the Bears.

Spencer Ricke went 2-for-3 with a run scored to top the Warriors, while teammate Alex Krantz generated two RBIs behind a double in three at-bats.

Cody Runksmeier doubled and scored a run for North Union, while Colin Runksmeier chipped in a run-scoring single.

Cody Runksmeier gave up four runs on eight hits, struck out two and walked two in six innings on the mound to absorb the loss.

North Union competes in the Spencer Tournament today.
