Wayne A. Stanton

TRIMONT – A Service of Remembrance for Wayne A. Stanton, 82, of Trimont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn., with Pastor Stephanie Christoffels, officiating. Burial with full military honors by the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post #373 of Trimont, will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Trimont, Minn.

Wayne was called to his eternal rest on Monday morning, May 26, 2014, surrounded by family at his home in Trimont, Minn. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Wayne Arthur Stanton was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Aitkin, Minn., the son of Arthur and Lorna (Scholl) Stanton. At the age of nine, Wayne moved with his family from Winnebago to Triumph where he attended school in Triumph, Minn. On Nov. 13, 1953, he was united in marriage to Arladyne Schultz at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. On May 13, 1954, Wayne entered the U.S. Army, serving until his honorable discharge on April 23, 1956. Wayne was employed at the Farmers Co-op Elevator in Trimont for 20 years. He then was employed for the Martin County Highway Department for 18 years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church where Wayne was very active serving as its president, sexton of its cemetery, and was an usher. He belonged to Foster-Bernhardt Legion Post #373. He served on the Trimont Fire Department for 27 years and belonged to TASK where he served ice cream on Sundays in the Park. Wayne loved to go fishing, playing golf at Fox Lake Golf Course or playing cards with his family. In 2011, Wayne was awarded the “Good People” Jefferson Award for his outstanding public and community service. His greatest treasures on earth were his family, friends and helping people out.

Survivors include: his wife, Arladyne Stanton of Trimont, Minn.; his son, Billy and his wife, Michele Stanton of Weeki Wachee, Fla.; two granddaughters, Rachel and husband, Jeff Leonard of Ellsworth, Wis., and Melessa and husband, Chad Veldhouse of Cottage Grove, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Jade and Julia; three step great-grandchildren, Ben, Elle and Rachel; sisters, Gladys Steen of Sheboygan, Wis., and Darlene Breitbarth and her husband, Gordon of Calif.; brother, Ralph and his wife, Maureen Stanton of Welcome, Minn.; brother-in-law, Lowell Schultz of Dunnell, Minn.; sister-in-law, Caryl Schultz of Fairmont, Minn.; and other relatives and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carol Burrell and Evelyn Stanton; brothers-in-law, Delbert Burrell, Elmer Holtz and Raymond Steen; sisters-in-law, Lucille Schultz, Caroline Schultz, Dorothy Holtz and other relatives.
