William G. ‘Bill’ Konrad

FAIRMONT – Memorial visitation for William G. “Bill” Konrad, 75, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 3-5 p.m., with a prayer service at 5 p.m., on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Bill passed away Tuesday morning, May 13, 2014, at his home in Fairmont.

William Goodwin Konrad was born Feb. 25, 1939, in Mountain Lake, Minn., the son of Frank and Esther (Goodwin) Konrad. He attended Windom public schools and graduated in 1957. On Nov. 2, 1957, Bill was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sharon Olson. The couple resided briefly in Mankato and Brainerd before settling in Fairmont in 1963. This union was blessed with three children:?Chris, Tami and Suzanne. Bill and Sharon shared 53 years together before Sharon passed away on Aug. 13, 2010. Bill managed a number of restaurants and motels, including Lakeview Motel, Wilken Motel, E&L Caf, and Western Caf. Most recently, Bill helped drive people to appointments. He especially enjoyed seeing the countryside and sharing stories while driving people to and from their destinations.

Bill was a member of the Fairmont Eagles Club and Shriners. During his free time, Bill enjoyed numerous hobbies, including bike riding, model trains, woodworking, and watching the Minnesota Vikings. He was known for his organizational skills around the house, as well as with the businesses he managed. Bill was always there for his children and cherished the time he spent with them and his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Chris Konrad and his wife, Laurie, of Bellevue, Neb.; daughters, Tami Holland and her husband, Randy, of Fairmont, Minn., and Suzanne Hayes of Mankato, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Eric Konrad and his wife, Noelle, of Bellevue, Neb., Zachary Konrad and his wife, Kate, of Papillion, Neb., Christina Oliver and her husband, Jason, of Omaha, Neb., Emily Holland of Fairmont, Minn., Noah Holland of Fairmont, Minn., Sam Holland of Fairmont, Minn., Jessica Hayes and her partner, Andrew McMurtry, of Milaca, Minn., Ben Hayes of Mankato, Minn., and Johnny Hayes of Lake Crystal, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Daniel Konrad, Harper Konrad and Zella Konrad; sisters, Betty Twait and her husband, Kermit, of Windom, Minn., and Ruth Woodall and her husband, Jim, of St. Cloud, Minn.; sister-in-law, Miriam Swanson of Anchorage, Alaska; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Esther Konrad; and his wife, Sharon Konrad.
