FHS splits with St. Peter
ST. PETER – Fairmont’s Mitch Pfingsten and Emily Kim earned meet medalist honors as the Cardinals split team wins against St. Peter during South Central Conference golf action on Tuesday at Shoreland Country Club.
Pfingsten carded a 36 on the front nine and nearly duplicated his efforts with a 37 on the back for a meet-low round of 73 to pace the Cardinals in the 332-358 victory over the Saints.
Joe Nordquist scored a 47-34-81, while Trason Arens chipped in a 45-43-88 for Fairmont.
Cole Huinker completed the Cardinals’ winning team score with a round of 44-46-90.
Derrick Hohensee and Bryan Grotte rounded out Fairmont’s efforts with 47-47-94 and 50-49-99, respectively.
On the girls’ side, Kim shot a 43 on her front nine, before carding a 46 on the back nine for her team-low round of 89, but the Cardinals lost to the Saints 408-417.
Cassidy Krusemark fired a 54-51-105, Lexi Johnson scored a 55-52-107 and Dayna Madsen completed the team score with a round of 59-57-116.
Bailey Dulas and Alyssa Westcott rounded out the Cardinals efforts on the court with rounds of 73-59-132, 64-69-133.
The Fairmont boys play in the Albert Lea Invite at 4:15 p.m. Friday.
Martin County West’s Cordell Weber and Madelia’s Jordan Henry each carded nine-hole rounds of 36 to share medalist honors during Tuesday’s boys quadrangular meet in Madelia.
Weber’s low-scoring ways paced the Mavericks’ winning team total of 165 – 10 strokes better than the host Blackhawks’ 175.
Connor Anderson fired a 39 to take third place overall, Chris Kahler shot a 43 and Kevin Phillip tallied a 47 to round out MCW’s winning team scores. Dawson Weber and Hunter Schofield chipped in a 49 and a 51, respectively.
Zach Baumgartner and Matt Baumgartner each carded 44s for Madelia, while Carter Wihlm fired a 51. Riley Benzel and Jared Henry each chipped in 52s.
Michael Dallager shot a 47 to pace Truman/GHEC’s third-place boys team total of 212. Jackson Maloney supplied a 54, Logan Pytleski fired a 55 and Anthony True tallied a 56 to round out the Bluejays’ counting marks. Tyler Mathiason (61) and Chris Crissinger (62) completed Truman/GHEC’s effort.
Damon Schmalzriedt fired a 47 to pace Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/ Nicollet’s fourth-place team total of 232.
In the girls’ triangular in Madelia on Thursday, Logan Weber and Morgan Larson each earned medalist honors with 46s, but Martin County West was incomplete by having only three golfers. Taylor DeVary added a 64 for the Mavericks.
Kia Ruch shot a 47 to pace LCWM/Nicollet’s winning team total of 227.
Victoria Pietsch fired a 55 to top Madelia’s team score of 256.
Martin County West travels to Mountain Lake Area on Monday, while Truman/ GHEC hosts Madelia at Rose Lake on Friday.
