Cardinals net victory over Bucs
BLUE EARTH – The Fairmont Cardinals swept the doubles bracket to highlight a 5-2 South Central Conference boys tennis victory over the Blue Earth Area Bucs on Tuesday in Blue Earth.
Carter Klanderud and Henrique Marquez combined forces at No. 1 doubles to post a 6-2, 6-0 win over Jaron King and Martin Granados at Schroeder Courts.
Ryan Busche and Mitch Anderton produced another team point for the Cardinals by serving a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Justus Thelen and Mason Hehr at the No. 2 spot in the doubles lineup.
Jake Kallenbach and Andy Hagen completed Fairmont’s doubles sweep by outdueling Spencer Petersen and Parker Kienitz at the third spot, 6-2, 7-5.
The Cardinals’ Manuel Martinez posted a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Hunter Myers at first singles, while Tyler Head outslugged Chandler Kienitz at third singles, 6-0, 7-6 (7-1).
The Bucs’ Leon Chaudhari outdueled Sterlin Johnson at second singles, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, while Blue Earth Area’s Chance Andrews defeated Tony Joseph in a three-set clash at fourth singles, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
Fairmont (5-8, 2-3 SCC) travels to Albert Lea on Friday for a nonconference dual meet, while Blue Earth Area hosts Luverne on Thursday in a non-league dual meet.
