Fairmont splits golf dual with Waseca

WASECA – Mitch Pfingsten and Emily Kim swept meet medalist honors for Fairmont, but the Cardinal teams split the South Central Conference dual competition with the Waseca Bluejays on Monday at Lakeside Golf Course in Waseca.

Pfingsten carded a 2-over par round of 37 to pace the Cardinal boys team to a 166-168 win, while the Bluejays claimed the girls meet, 216-219.

Pfingsten carded seven pars to highlight his meet-low round of 37.

Joe Nordquist finished with three pars during his round of 41, while Sam Havnen parred Nos. 2 and 5 for a round of 43. Cole Huinker rounded out the Cardinals’ winning team score with a two-par round of 45.

Derrick Hohensee and Trevor Iverson scored a 47 and a 55, respectively, to complete Fairmont’s efforts on the course.

Josh Kummerfeldt topped the Bluejays with a 41, while Andrew Weber and Jordan Altman chipped in a 41 and a 43, respectively. Colin Worke completed Waseca’s team score with a 44.

Keith Tuttle and Dustin Edstrom rounded out the Bluejays’ efforts with a 45 and a 48, respectively.

On the girls’ side, Emily Kim finished with a team-low round of 48 to top the Cardinals.

Corinne Dennis scored a 52 to pace the Bluejays winning efforts, while Sydney O’Brien tallied a 53. Mikayla Rolling and Sam Petracek rounded out Waseca’s winning team score with rounds of 55 and 56, respectively.

Megan Filzen and Peyton Grunzke completed the Bluejays’ efforts with a 59 and a 62, respectively.

In addition to Kim’s medalist round, Lexi Johnson shot a 53 and Cassidy Krusemark netted a 55. Bailey Dulas completed the Cardinals’ team score with a round of 63.

Dayna Madsen and Alyssa Westcott completed Fairmont’s efforts on the course with rounds of 65 and 71, respectively.

Fairmont plays St. Peter in an SCC dual meet at 3:45 p.m. today at Shoreland Country Club.

Waseca travels to play Blue Earth Area in a SCC dual meet at 4 p.m. today at Riverside Town & Country Golf Course.

Mankato West 225, Blue Earth Area 243 (Girls) – The Bucs’ Natali Fellows and the visiting Scarlets’ Mari Buseth shared meet medalist honors, but West captured the dual meet by 18 shots on Monday at Riverside Town & Country Club.

Fellows and Buseth each carded nine-hole rounds of 47 to top their respective golf lineups during nonconference play.

Ashley Peterson fired a 65 for the hometown Bucs, Mateja Lane netted a 66, while Signe Olson chipped in a 69 to round out the counting marks.

Malarie Scholtes tallied a 74, while Olivia Myers shot a 75 to complete BEA’s effort.

Jisoo Kim recorded a 52 to add punch to Buseth’s team-best 47 for West, while Morgan Oko (61) and Allison Lewandowski (65) completed the team’s counting scores.

Lauren Smith (66) and Mackenzie Hays (80) rounded out the Scarlets’ effort.

Blue Earth Area hosts Waseca today in an 18-hole South Central Conference dual meet at Riverside Town & Country Club.
