‘Pampered on the Plaza’ set for Thursday

FAIRMONT – Businesses on Fairmont’s Downtown Plaza will be showcased Thursday night. From 5-8 p.m., the event, dubbed “Be Pampered on the Plaza,” will spotlight 16 businesses and eight vendors, all featuring special promotions.

“We do ‘Holiday Delights’ every year, and we have a great turnout,” said Lisa Dahl, referring to the annual Christmas shopping promotion for downtown businesses. “It’s a combination of all the businesses cooperating, and we thought, if it can be successful when it’s 20 below zero, it should be great on a spring night.”

Dahl, who is coordinating “Be Pampered on the Plaza,” is pleased with the involvement of so many businesses.

“We have so many new places downtown, and they are owned or managed by women or women-oriented,” she said. “We need to show that off.

“We’ve got 16 businesses participating. We also rented the banquet room at the American Legion, and there will be eight vendors renting space there.”

Many of these downtown stores already are open for shoppers on Thursday nights, but they will feature special promotions outside of the norm.

“All stores are encouraged to do a special or promotion, just something fun. We encouraged them to do something different,” Dahl said.

Shoppers can sign up for door prizes at each store and also for a grand prize valued at over $400.

“It (grand prize) will have at least a $25 value from each of these businesses,” Dahl said.

Participating downtown businesses include The Healing Place, White Orchid, On the Wall, Enderson’s Clothing, Buntjer’s Salon, Picture This/Scrap That, Jake’s Pizza, CJ’s Sweet Sensations, Dee’s Floral and Design, Sovell’s Jewelry, Fairmont Awards, Ivy Blu, Good News Bookstore, Indulge Salon and Spa, and Giddy Up Boutique.

Dahl noted that the 5 Crazy Ladies Boutique, located in the former Jim Hill Ag Industrial Building at 1151 W. Lake Ave., also is participating.

Vendors at the Legion include Barbara Jensen with Pampered Chef, Amanda Hartwig with Thirty-One, Arla Stebritz with Scentsy, Glenda Hugget with Tupperware, Kathy Barke and Kora Rettke with Premier Design, Carmen Davison with Jewelry by Carmen, and Ra’Keeta Pfingsten with doTerra.

The Fairmont Downtown Association is also seeking additional vendors for the event. If you are a vendor selling products for women and would like to rent table space at the Legion for Be Pampered on the Plaza, call Dahl at (507) 238-9555.
