MAPLETON – Alice Zimmerman-Madsen, age 102, of Mapleton, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Mapleton Community Home. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Michael Roys, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Mapleton, Minn.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Alice was born Nov. 28, 1911, in Mapleton, Minn., the daughter of Elmer and Anna (Hawker) Klint. She attended schools in Mapleton and was married to Rolla Zimmerman on Feb. 5, 1930. Alice was a homemaker, raising four children and was the oldest living member of the United Church of Mapleton, having begun to attend in 1930. Her family was of greatest importance to her but she also enjoyed the company and conversation of friends, cooking, baking pies, playing cards, sewing and embroidery, dancing and shopping. Rolla died in 1969 and she was later married to Stanley Madsen on Jan. 14, 1989; he passed away in 2001. Alice was a caring person, having helped care for her husbands, father and father-in-law at the end of their lives and having cared for foster children through the years.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Maxine Durkee of Winnebago; her son, Larry Zimmerman of New Ulm; her daughters-in-law, DuAnn Zimmerman of Elmore, and Marjorie Zimmerman of Owatonna; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Marlene (Gerald) Moeller, Mary Ann (Marlyn) Hagen, Marvel Snyder, Marvin (Sharon) Madsen, John (Glenda) Madsen, Jerry Madsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; sons, Jim “Red” Zimmerman, and Dale Zimmerman; daughter-in-law, Beverly Zimmerman; son-in-law, Maurice Durkee; grandson, Brian Zimmerman; granddaughter, Jo Ellen Lindemann; grandson, Jeff Zimmerman; and step-son, Don Snyder.
