Trojans net 6-1 victory over Bucs
BLUE EARTH – The Worthington Trojans swept the doubles bracket to pace a 6-1 nonconference boys tennis victory over the Blue Earth Area Bucs on Tuesday at Schroeder Courts in Blue Earth.
Chance Andrews prevented the hometown Bucs from being shut out by outdueling Jonah McDonald at fourth singles. Andrews claimed the team tally via a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 decision.
Ben Doeden and Bryan Doeden combined at first doubles to serve a 6-0, 6-1 loss to the Bucs’ Jaron King and Martin Granados, while the Trojans’ Isaac Houselog and Levi Blanchard teamed for a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Justus Thelen and Spencer Petersen at No. 2 doubles.
D.J. Berger and Orissa Nitibhen capped the doubles bracket sweep for Worthington by posting back-to-back 6-0 set wins over Parker Kienitz and Spenser Timmerman at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.
Carter Lindner generated a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Hunter Myers at first singles, while Trojan teammate Andrew Johnson produced a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Leon Chaudhari at the No. 2 spot in the singles division.
Nick Newman claimed the dual meet’s final point by outlasting Chandler Kienitz at third singles, 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-0.
Blue Earth Area plays host to St. James at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Schroeder Courts in Blue Earth.
