JCC golfers take a pair from MCW
JACKSON – The Jackson County Central Huskies edged the Martin County West Mavericks in nonconference double dual-meet golf action Tuesday in Jackson.
Despite Maverick golfers Cordell Weber and Connor Anderson sharing meet medalist honors with the Huskies’ Jack Ringkob, JCC squeezed by MCW 174-180 in the boys team competition.
Cordell Weber, Anderson and Ringkob each carded nine-hole rounds of 40 at the Jackson Golf Club to top the 12-player varsity field.
Dawson Weber chipped in a 49, while Hunter Schofield fired a 51 to round out the Mavericks’ counting scores.
Hunter Olson and Chris Kahler added a 52 and a 54, respectively, for MCW.
Kyle Kapplinger penciled in a 43, Joe Brinkman shot a 44 and Austin Olson tallied a 47 to round out JCC’s counting marks.
Andrew Torgerson (49) and Chris Baker (56) completed the Huskies’ effort.
In the girls’ meet, Abby Benson netted medalist honors by carding a 42 to steer the Huskies to a 185-212 victory over the Mavericks.
Allison Benson chipped in a 45, Abby Brinkman fired a 47 and Emmalee Benson netted a 51 to complete JCC’s counting scores. Emma Lilleberg and Lexie Hoffman each chipped in 52s.
Logan Weber made her seasonal debut by firing a 44 to top the Mavericks’ scoring charts, while Jennifer Petersen tallied a 46. Morgan Larson shot a 55, while Taylor DeVary added a 67 to complete MCW’s four-golfer lineup.
Martin County West plays host to Madelia on Friday at Fox Lake Golf Course in Fairmont.
Alden-Conger 194, Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain 228, Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 229 – Eli Hallman and Jordan Hallman each carded medalist rounds of 45 to guide Alden-Conger to a pair of wins during Valley Conference triangular action Tuesday in Madelia.
Damon Schmalzriedt also claimed medalist honors by firing a 45 for LCWM, while Michael Dallager delivered a 46 to help the Bluejays edge the Knights by one for second-place team honors.
Anthony True shot a 60 for Truman/GHEC, while Jackson Maloney and Storm Pearson each supplied 61s. Chris Crissinger (69) and Tim Bertholt (72) rounded out the Bluejays’ effort.
Zach Anderson and Ryan Hansen each fired 52s to complement the Hallmans’ 45s to pace A-C’s winning team total.
Adam Hruby (58), Blake Brunz (63) and Tyler Hruby (63) completed LCWM’s counting marks.
Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain (2-2) plays host to Martin County West at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Rose Lake Golf Course.
Parker Oleson fired a nine-hole score of 37 to guide the North Union Warriors to first-place team total of 166 on Tuesday in Armstrong.
The Warriors outdistanced Harris-Lake Park by 14 strokes, while West Bend-Mallard fired a 188. Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire (190) and Corwith-Wesley-Luverne (202) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Clay Central-Everly was incomplete.
Nathan Eaton carded a 41 for North Union, while Colton Nicoson and Alex Krantz each fired 44s to cap the counting marks. Jacob Braddock (47) and Tyler Quinn (55) rounded out the Warriors’ effort.
North Union hits the fairways at Spencer Municipal Golf Course in Spencer, Iowa, on Friday.
