B.E. Area, St. James golfers split dual

ST. JAMES – The Blue Earth Area Bucs golf teams produced a split decision against the St. James Saints during co-ed South Central Conference golf action on Monday at the St. James Country Club.

The Bucs’ boys team took a five-stroke victory over the Saints by winning 198-203, while the Saints’ girls team won the match against the Bucs with a 226-247 edge.

The Bucs’ Zach Curtis recorded a nine-hole round of 45 to earn medalist honors in the meet.

Connor Thiefoldt scored a 46, Luke Monson chipped in a 49, while Trevor Zierke completed the winning team score with a round of 58 for Blue Earth Area.

Tanner Wickersham and Zaine Stewart rounded out the Bucs’ team effort, scoring rounds of 60 and 69, respectively.

John Olsen topped St. James’ performance with a score of 48 on the day.

Natali Fellows also earned medalist honors for the Bucs in the girls meet, scoring a meet-low 49.

Malarie Scholtes, Signe Olson and Olivia Meyers rounded out the Bucs team scoring with rounds of 63, 66 and 69, respectively.

Mateja Lane and Ashley Petersen rounded out the Blue Earth Area team effort with a 70 and a 71, respectively.

Kristen Liemer led the Saints with a second-place round of 50, while Lyndsey Haler and Julia Boeve scored a 56 and a 57, respectively, for St. James.

Blue Earth Area’s boys and girls golf teams travel to play in the New Ulm Invitational at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Ulm Country Club.
