Violet R. Hansen

WELCOME – A Celebration of Life Service for Violet R. Hansen, 79, of Welcome, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minn., with Reverend Wayne Fritzinger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Welcome, Minn.

Violet was called to her eternal rest on Thursday evening, April 10, 2014, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Wednesday. Violet Rose Wohlhuter, the daughter of Fred and Amanda (Hartwig) Wohlhuter, was born on Oct. 4, 1934 in Fox Lake Township, Martin County, Minn. She attended rural country school district #63 in Fox Lake Township. Violet attended Welcome High School and graduated in 1952. On June 16, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Hansen at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minn. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Ceylon until moving to a farm in Rolling Green Township, just south of Welcome. They later moved into Welcome where Violet was employed in clerical at the Fairmont Medical Center until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. She also was a member of Welcome Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her three grandchildren, Danielle Hansen of Arlington, Texas, Jennifer (Bradey) Schmidt of Welcome, Minn., Zachary Hansen and his special friend, Lori Gormally of Fairmont, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Cora Schmidt, Nolan and Harper Hansen; and other relatives and friends.

Violet is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Amanda Wohlhuter; husband, Robert A. Hansen; son, Todd Hansen; sister, Nelda (Vic) Miller and other relatives.
