Milda M. Artner
IMOGENE – Funeral service for Milda M. Artner, 93, of Imogene, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.
Milda passed away Friday night, April 11, 2014, at the Lakeview Methodist Healthcare Center in Fairmont.
Milda Martha Margaret (Wiedow) Artner was born on March 19, 1921, in Lake Belt Township, Martin County, the daughter of Robert and Frieda (Oltmann) Wiedow. Milda was one of nine children. She attended Imogene Elementary School and graduated from Granada High School in 1940. Milda married Frank Artner on November 25, 1943, and they made their home in Imogene. Frank and Milda had one son, David, who was born in 1948. Frank passed away in 2000, and David passed away in 2001. Milda moved to the Lakeview Methodist Healthcare Center in Fairmont in August of 2011.
In her younger years she worked as a housekeeper for area families. Milda also worked for a short time at the Fairmont Canning Company. Milda spent many hours gardening and helping her husband Frank with his projects. She was always sewing, crocheting or cooking. She loved to dance and went every Sunday to the State Line Store. Jigsaw puzzles and playing 500 were her favorite activities. Milda loved to spend time with her grandchildren, Ben and Nicole, and her great-grandsons, Connor, Gavin and Logan. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont.
Those who will cherish her memory include two grandchildren, Ben Artner of Fairmont, Nicole Hilmoe and her husband, Matt, of Ramsey, Minn.; great-grandsons, Connor and Gavin Artner, Logan Hilmoe; daughter-in-law, Sheila Artner of Granada; brother, Harry Wiedow and his wife, Donna, of Illinois; sister, Hilda Tietje of Louisiana; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Frieda Wiedow; husband, Frank Artner; son, David Artner; two brothers, Alvin and Carl Wiedow; four sisters, Marie Adams, Lottie Laue, Olga Janssen and Laura Laue.
Memorials are preferred to the United Hands Hospice or the Lakeview Methodist Healthcare Center Foundation.
