Roland H. Moeller
FAIRMONT – Funeral services for Roland H. Moeller, 87, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial with full military honors by the Schwieger-Kahler American Legion Post 522 will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Roland passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 10, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling the arrangements for the family.
Roland Henry Moeller was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Fraser Township, Martin County, Minn., the son of Alfred Henry and Mary Margaret (Roehler) Moeller. Roland attended country school and then graduated from Fairmont High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on Nov. 28, 1944, and served honorably until his discharge on July 19, 1946. On Nov. 21, 1964, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Eliason in Minneapolis. Roland farmed his whole life on the family farm in Fraser Township. Evelyn passed away in February 2009 and that same month, Roland entered Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont due to his declining health. Roland was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont where he served in various offices and a member of the SchwiegerKahler American Legion Post 522 in Northrop.
Those who will cherish Roland’s memory include two sons, Donald Moeller and special friend, Kristi, of Holland, Minn., David Moeller and his wife, Kathy, of Fairmont, Minn.; one daughter, Christi Yoder and her husband, Chris, of Longmont, Colo.; son-in-law, Dan Vandever of Fairmont, Minn.; grandchildren, Nicholas Moeller, Dustyn Vandever, Anneliese and Elena Yoder, Levi and Hailey Anderson; great-grandchildren, Cloe and Tiegen; sisters, Elaine Schwieger of Fairmont, Minn., Ruth Engelby of Fairmont, Minn., Carol Peterson of Glendale, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Dick Cooper of Rush City, Minn.; sister-in-law, Ethelyn “Pete” Moeller of Fairmont, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Alfred and Mary Moeller, and wife, Evelyn Moeller, Roland was preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Vandever; three brothers, Donald, Gordon and Kenneth Moeller; two sisters, Janet Ehn and Joanne Weihe.
